Powering Massachusetts: Unlocking 3.5 GW Through Electric Demand Management
Massachusetts has set an ambitious goal to secure 10 gigawatts of energy capacity under Executive Order 654, including 3.5 GW new energy demand reduction. The challenge is not just building more infrastructure, but making better use of the grid we already have.
Join us for a focused discussion on how to deliver 3.5GW of demand reduction through a combination of efficiency and demand flexibility. This session brings together leaders across energy, technology, and policy to explore how real-time data, grid-edge intelligence, smart meter roll-outs in Massachusetts, and coordinated load management can unlock existing capacity and improve reliability.
The program includes an introduction, a moderated panel, networking, and live demonstrations of next-generation grid technology in action by Boston climate tech innovators, Sense and Reservoir.
Relevant to policymakers, utilities, climate advocates, and anyone interested in the future of energy, this session will highlight practical strategies to lower costs, strengthen the grid, and accelerate decarbonization.
Speakers include:
Amy Boyd Rubin, VP Policy & Regulatory Affairs, Environmental League of Massachusetts
Jake Navarro, Director of Energy Efficiency & Clean Transportation, National Grid
Matt Nelson, Apex Analytics; Former MA Department of Public Utilities Chair
Mike Judge, Undersecretary of Energy, MA Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs
Mike Phillips, CEO, Sense
