LisboaUX: Are We Making Ourselves Obsolete?
Join us on a special edition of LisboaUX at Web Summit, marking our second year 🎂 anniversary.
AI is accelerating delivery, but it’s also accelerating the rate at which good teams ship things nobody needs. If anyone can design and build, what is our role? We’ll discuss how to step off the feature treadmill, rethink our processes, and shift our focus from just making screens to making the right decisions.
About the Talks
Krasi Bozhinkova
When product and design teams face constant change and mounting pressure, they often fall back on what feels responsible: follow the roadmap, gather more evidence, and seek alignment. But as AI accelerates delivery and market conditions shift, these habits can delay the difficult choices that give products direction.
Meanwhile, the work continues. Teams deliver existing commitments, accommodate stakeholder requests, and optimize what they can measure. Each decision may be sensible on its own, but together they pull the product off course. The result? More features, slower learning, fragmented experiences, and products customers no longer choose.
In her talk, Krasi will explore why good teams make bad product decisions and what it takes to decide better when conditions change: when to rethink a product's value, change how it's delivered, test before committing, or protect what already works. Because the hardest product decision isn't always what to build next. Sometimes it’s know what to stop, what to change, or what to leave alone.
Tiago Pedras
In the last year, anyone with a prompt box can design, code and ship a screen. Product managers generate their own prototypes, engineers skip the handoff and leaders ask Claude for the answers they used to ask us for. It's time we named the elephant in the room. This talk is built around four questions Tiago Pedras keeps asking himself:
Are we losing ownership of the process?
Are we being pushed away from early input?
Are we helping eliminate our own jobs?
And how do we work when the tools change every week?
He doesn't have neat answers to all of them (one gets an uncomfortable "yes"), but he'll share what he has seen work, from his own experiments and from designers and researchers who built their own AI tools to stay in the loop. It's also interactive. You'll vote on the worry that hits closest to home, and together we'll build a list of what still makes designers worth hiring. You'll leave with a few small things to try the next morning.
JOIN OUR DINNER WITH THE SPEAKERS
In addition to our talks, you can also sign up for the dinners that will take place afterwards. We are partnering with multiple restaurants across town and booking tables where you'll get to meet other 5 people after the talks.
This is a way to know the speakers, our team and other designers, and have more meaningful conversations that go beyond design and research.
