Pen Fight Tournament brings back nostalgia, competitiveness and bragging rights!
Anyone that has been to school has most likely played pen fight before. The goal is simple:
You and your opponent place a pen. Your goal is to knock your opponent's pen off the table.
How does a Pen Fight Tournament work?
Once you signup, turn up for the tournament 10 minutes before start time.
After you reach Cat Cafe Studio, ask for the studio space entry.
Enter your name and you are ready to take part in the tournament.
We will use Challonge to randomly give you an opponent.
We will user the loser's bracket format: this means that you get two matches max - lose both and you are out.
This will go on until we have two finalists.
The winner is crowned the first ever Pen Fight Champion.
How do my matches work?
You need to have three pens to participate. This is your deck.
Don't have 3 pens? Don't worry, we will provide some.
Once your name is called up along with your opponent's please come forward to the table.
Tell the judge your order of the deck.
Then, the judge will perform a coin flip to see who goes first. The order will then keep flipping per round.
Place your first pen on your side of the table; the opponent does the same for their side.
The person winning the toss starts first.
First to reach four points wins.
The deck order is shuffled after 3 rounds, if that's required to reach the four point limit.
Rules and regulations
You can only have 3 pens.
All pens must have to be their original without modification to shape, weight or size.
You can place the pen in any way you like on your side of the table apart from its Z-index aka standing position on the pen's cover or ending.
The competitor going first cannot knock out the opponent on the first turn. Doing so will result in a loss.
Once the first play is done, both players are free to knock out their opponent's pens.
You can move your pen using flicks from your thumb or index finger only.
Your finger can touch the table while flicking your pen.
Your finger or any body part cannot touch your opponent's pen - this results in a round forfeit.
Your palm, arms and body cannot touch the table; all contact must be with the finger flick using your thumb and index finger. Any contact will result in points scored for the opponent.
Points Scoring System
Single KO - 1 point
A Single KO is when you eliminate your opponent's pen.
Double KO - 0 points
A Double KO is when you make a move that eliminates your opponent's pen but also eliminates your pen by knocking both off the table.
Breakoff - 2 points
A Breakoff is when the pen's cap comes off - this could happen on your turn too so be careful with your moves!
Palm Breach - 1 point
Any time your palm, arm, elbow or shoulder comes in contact with the table, your opponent is awarded 1 point.
Body Breach - 2 points
If any other part of your body touches the table then the opponent earns 2 points.
Clothing Breach - 0 points
If your clothing or worn accessories touch the table then there's no points lost.
Time Breach - 1 point
Each move must be made in 20 seconds otherwise your opponent will receive 1 point.
All matches leading up to the finals will be first to reach four points.
The final match will be first to reach seven points.

Cat Cafe Studio is India's first cat cafe. Located in Versova, Mumbai it is home to cats, cat lovers and good food! We highly recommend having lunch or evening coffee at their cafe area.
