[Jalan Saloma Padi] A Sonic Screening: A Film Screening & Live Performances
Some films take years to make. Jalan Saloma Padi took three, not because of production delays, but because a single song by P. Ramlee remained out of reach.
When the rights could not be secured, the project did not stop. Instead, it opened the door to a new direction. A collaboration formed with musicians and composers from Singapore and beyond, leading to the creation of an original seven-track soundtrack written entirely from scratch. That necessity reshaped the film, giving it a renewed voice.
The evening features a screening of the film, followed by an intimate live performance by Shazza, Wirda Hanee, and Ahmadul Amin, and a conversation with the director and musicians on the making of the film, the creative detour that shaped it, and the community behind its completion.
Jalan Saloma Padi is a celebration of music’s role in filmmaking, and of what becomes possible when we let go of the original plan to make space for something new.
Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are available now.
