​Welcome to Movies for the Planet x Food . Film . Fest !

​Join us as we explore the magic of cinema together! Our events are all about bringing film lovers together to enjoy great movies and share the experience as a community. We also want them to spread awareness about environmental and societal issues, and motivate people to take action, even a small step, towards a better world.

​Art, like music or movies, speaks not only to our brains, but also addresses our hearts and directly evokes emotions. And love, fear, hope, or anger frequently shape how people engage with action towards a sustainable future.

​With this cosy community event, we are on a mission to inspire and empower environmentally-conscious individuals like you.

​We organize the movie night every 3rd Friday of the month at 8 PM in LYCKA Buurtkamer in Amsterdam (near Sloterdijk station). After the screening, we often continue the evening with lively discussions after the film. This time - with Food . Film . Fest.

From November 10 to December 10, Food.Film.Fest. will once again bring inspiring films and conversations to Flemish and Dutch cities and municipalities in 2026. From organic farms to community centers, from cinemas to a small room next to a community garden: Food.Film.Fest. pops up everywhere! Discover surprising stories about the future of our food and be inspired by people who are already working on change today.

​Our food system faces major challenges. At the same time, the movement of farmers, producers, organizations, and citizens is growing, proving that things can be done differently: fairer, more sustainable, and with more respect for people, animals, and the planet.

​During Food.Film.Fest., local organizers and volunteers bring these stories to life on the big screen. A pre- or post-screening discussion enriches the film experience at many locations. This creates space to exchange ideas, ask questions, and think further together about what we can do ourselves.

​Food.Film.Fest. is more than a film festival. It is an invitation to watch, to talk, and to get moving.

​This month: Eat More Trees

The desert must be one of the least hospitable places a human being can live. However, our current way of food production is steadily pushing the soil towards desert. Has this always been the case or are there systems that work in the other direction? Time after time we come across the role of the tree and the combination of different vegetables, fruits and grains that make productive ecosystems more robust. Together we will visit the climax of nature on earth: the Amazon rainforest; only to discover that this was largely planted by mankind.

​So, if we did it once before, maybe... we can do it again?
