Redlist Camera is online photobooth with custom designed filters that simulate how endangered animals might perceive the world with the resolution tied to population size -> the fewer individuals left, the more pixelated the image becomes.
We are living through a global extinction crisis. Southeast Asia, despite being a biodiversity hotspot, is seeing many of its unique species vanish in silence. Vital conservation data has challenge to reach the general public in creative ways. It felt distant, scientific, and hard to connect with.
Redlist Camera is my response to that gap. A way to bring climate, conservation, and creativity together. By translating data into something visual and interactive, this project helps people feel something real about species loss and maybe, care enough to act.
How Redlist Cam Works
Upload an image from your device.
Apply an animal-specific filter that simulates how the species the world. For example, some may see only in black and white, or through tinted shades of blue.
Pixelation will be added, the fewer individuals left in the wild, the more pixelated your image becomes. Each pixel represents how rare the species is.
Add a timestamp showing a climate countdown, connecting your image to the urgency of the extinction crisis.
This isn’t a final solution. It’s a prototype, a conversation starter, and bridge between species and people.
