AI for Good Hackathon
48 hours. One challenge that could change someone's life forever. Ready to make a difference?
About the event
Most hackathons are about building fast. This one is about building something that actually matters. You’re building for a real person, and the potential for real impact.
The AI for Good Hackathon is an inaugural event in a series designed to unite students, businesses, and governments around pioneering AI solutions to real societal challenges. This isn't a typical hackathon. Every problem statement is rooted in a real person's life, and every solution has the potential to create lasting impact.
Over 48 hours, teams of five will work alongside technical experts and methodological coaches to go from challenge to working concept. Guided, supported, and pushed to their best.
Empowering Yasmin
Yasmin is a bright, determined young woman of 38, who is born with severe cerebral palsy. Amongst many other physical disabilities, this has left her unable to develop conventional speech. Currently, she operates a speech computer using eye movement, to control a limited set of speech content. She dreams of being able to communicate with her loved ones and experience the world at large in a much more meaningful way. Making her voice heard, loud and clear.
🎥 Hear more about Yasmin and her family's story in their own words in this video.
The challenge
Design intuitive, effective AI tools (through eye-tracking, predictive AI, voice synthesis, or dedicated sensors) that allow her to communicate freely, interact with her environment, and live more autonomously.
The Agenda
Friday — Kickoff & Connections
Arrival, check-in, and getting to know the community.
We’ll set the stage, reveal the challenge, and form teams in a creative way.
Expect a mix of energy, first ideas, and informal networking to start things off right.
Saturday — Deep Dive & Creation
A full day dedicated to exploring the challenge from every angle.
You’ll connect with users, uncover insights, and shape clear problem statements.
Through guided sessions and hands-on teamwork, ideas will start to take form and evolve into tangible concepts.
Sunday — Build & Showcase
Time to bring everything together.
Teams will refine their concepts, build prototypes, and craft compelling stories.
We’ll close with final presentations, a celebratory moment, and a chance to reflect and connect.
The Teams
We’re bringing together carefully composed, cross-disciplinary teams consisting of 3-5 people each.
Each team blends different skill sets. From AI engineers and UX designers to researchers, students, and builders, creating the right mix to tackle real-world challenges.
Participants are selected based on skills, diversity of background, and motivation. You can apply individually or as a team.
If you’re driven to use technology for meaningful impact, you’ll feel right at home here.
What to expect
Real problems
You’ll work on a genuine, real-world challenge. No simulations. Your ideas have the potential to create actual impact.
Diverse teams
Collaborate in cross-disciplinary teams of students, industry professionals, and researchers. Bringing different perspectives together to spark better ideas.
Hands-on building
This is not about sitting and listening. You’ll actively research, ideate, prototype, and test. Learning by doing, throughout the entire weekend.
Inspiration & guidance
Focused masterclasses and expert input will help you move faster and think sharper at every stage of the process.
A shared experience
Beyond the work, expect a high-energy, collaborative atmosphere with plenty of moments to connect, unwind, and enjoy the journey together.
