About Event

In view of the European Commission’s 2026 review of the Security of Supply framework and the new challenges facing Europe’s energy system, CERRE has been examining how resilience can be better integrated into existing legal frameworks.

On 10 March 2026, from 14:00 to 17:00 CET, we will present the outcomes of the Forum “Towards an Integrated Approach to Infrastructure and Market Resilience” in a hybrid event.

We will discuss insights from six issue papers on resilience, namely

  • “Updating Security of Supply Architecture and Preparedness Toolbox for an Increasingly Electrified Energy System”;

  • “Embedding Climate Resilience in Regulation”;

  • “Embedding Cyber Resilience in EU Energy Infrastructure Resilience”;

  • “Supply Chain Resilience in the Energy Sector”;

  • “Updating Energy Security Regulation in Europe”;

  • “Resilience to Price Shocks in Coupled Gas–Electricity Systems.”

The event will open with a fireside chat, followed by an introduction to the topic by Prof. Catherine Banet (CERRE Academic Co-Director, University of Oslo) and Prof. Paul Timmers (CERRE Research Fellow, University of Oxford).

This will be followed by a roundtable discussion from 15:00 to 16:30, with industry representatives from PPC, Terna, E.ON, Utility Regulator Northern Ireland, and Ofgem and Dr Kong Chyong (CERRE Research Fellow, University of Oxford), Dr Alessandro Lazari (Università del Salento), Dr Giancarlo Spagnolo (Università Tor Vergata).
