About Event

This workshop offers an exciting entrance into the expansive art of knitting. Knitting isn’t complicated but it requires practice to get the hang of. You’ll learn the basic knit stitch and then we’ll jump right into the practice portion of the workshop with a game of knitting musical chairs. Stations will be set up all around Drawing Room with pre-established knitting projects giving you a chance to practice on a variety of needle sizes and yarns when moving from station to station with this “knitting musical chairs” experience. Enjoy an even smaller group learning experience at each station and get out those first messy practice stitches before even starting your project. Use jumbo yarn and needles to clearly see what you’re doing or use smaller needles and see what a difference it makes in the fabric quality! Stitch by stitch you’ll start feeling more comfortable knitting with hands-on instruction along the way.

Get a feel for Cohort Program by joining this workshop as a drop-in student. Explore a new skill, connect with current Cohort members, tour the space, and learn from our inspiring instructors. It’s a great way to get a hands-on feel for our Journey programs before enrolling.

All workshops are beginner-friendly and designed to spark creativity and connection, perfect solo or with friends!

Adriana Gramly (she/her) is a Bolivian-American designer raised in Kansas--now based in Brooklyn, NY. She has BFA double major in Film/Animation/Video and Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design (2019) and  was The Textile Arts Center's Artist in Residence in 2021-2022.

Her work is inspired by childhood play, folklore, and the underdogs of the world. She strives to make work that is not only fun to engage with, but fun to make.
