Disregulated Dynamics: How a leader's internal state affects team behaviour & performance
Dysregulated Dynamics
How a leader's internal state shapes team behaviour and performance
Team dynamics can easily become dysregulated, we all experience this as leaders. However, there is something powerful at play that traditional leadership development misses: your nervous system agility. It’s the capacity to consciously respond with your whole body-mind-intelligence rather than impulsively react with deeply ingrained nervous system patterns. This skill is crucial to sustainable leadership success and peak performance in your team. Because your team isn't reacting to what you say. They're reacting to the state you're in when you say it. You can deliver the exact same leadership message on two different days and get completely different results. Why? Because on Tuesday you were grounded and present, and on Thursday your nervous system got stuck in survival mode. And the result: Your team can sense the difference before you even start the meeting.
So this session isn’t about the usual frameworks. It's about understanding something most leadership development misses completely: your nervous system can initially lead you to great success but can likewise become your hidden burnout driver and reason why your team isn’t operating at top performance.
Katrin has spent 25 years working with leaders, and she'll be the first to tell you this work started because she burned out while running a mental health training academy. The irony certainly wasn't lost on her. What she discovered in her own recovery and building her own sustainable business success - she now teaches to senior leaders: totally down to earth, office-friendly nervous system regulation as the foundation for everything else. Strategy, culture, psychological safety, team performance, all of it.
In this session, you'll learn how to pinpoint your dominant stress response (we all have one or two), how it shows up in your leadership, and what to do about it in real time. Not light-touch wellbeing advice, actual techniques you (and your team) can use in the middle of a tense meeting without anyone noticing.
You'll leave with:
A clearer picture of your stress response and how human it is to have one
Your hidden success and burnout driver
An understanding of how your internal state ripples through your team
Practical ways to catch yourself in dysregulation and course-correct
Language for talking about this with your team that doesn't feel weird
A new definition of high performance - one that doesn't require running yourself into the ground
It's a deep conversation and inspiring session about what actually drives team behavior, delivery speed, and how to make people feel safe enough to tell you the truth.
If you've ever walked out of a meeting thinking "why did I say it like that?" or noticed your team's energy completely shift around you, this session will make a lot of things suddenly make sense - and better.
