Black Envisioning: Black Queer Zine Making Workshop (Hybrid)
These two Community Imagination workshops will mix the art of zine-making, collage, and self-portraiture; using Black Queer archival material from KyKy Archives Digital Database. In-person participants will collage and be able to take polaroid film self-portraits to use within their work, and remote participants will engage in guided digital collaging. All participants will leave with their own creative piece of work that remembers to place themselves within it. We are living history and always in conversation with the past.
In person participants will be provided with collaging materials, and are encouraged to also bring any personal items and photos that you would like to include in your work.
Virtual participants will be given a packet of visual material to collage digitally using Canva, Bazaart, or any app of your choosing. A guide will be provided to help with this process. If you are joining us virtually and prefer to create a zine off screen, feel free to print the packet ahead of time and use your own materials.
