About Event

Join us for a conference designed specifically for filmmakers, musicians, and creatives, featuring in-depth workshops on funding and distribution and panel discussions with local industry and creators on building sustainability in the Southeast. This is offered in partnership with the Nashville Film Festival, the TN Entertainment Commission, Nashville PBS, and more. Check out our afternoon schedule below!

10A-11:15A Workshop 1: Crowdfunding to Build Independence

Our cornerstone class lays out the steps toward a successful crowdfunding campaign for any creative endeavor, as well as a career-long action plan most likely to create a lasting, flourishing, direct relationship with an audience. Attendees learn how to find their audience, structure their crowdfunding campaign, pick the right goal and incentives, and much more.

Taught by Emily Best, Seed&Spark's Founder and CEO.

11:30A-12:30P Workshop 2: Six Steps to Build Your Own Film Distribution Playbook

Now more than ever, distribution is in the hands of the makers, which brings both tremendous opportunities and challenges. We break down six clear steps to developing a distribution playbook for filmmakers for your project to have the greatest chance of accomplishing your goals, and offer distribution tips, tactics, and, most importantly, the economics for every window from theatrical through VOD and beyond.

Taught by Emily Best, Seed&Spark's Founder and CEO, and Christie Marchese, Kinema's Founder and CEO.

12:30P-1:15P Local Infrastructure: Festivals and Public TV Panel

Nashville is lucky to have tremendous people leading local institutions that support independent artists, and this panel of experts will focus on sharing how independent artists can leverage local resources and infrastructure to grow their careers.

Panelists include:

Lauren Thelen - Programming Director, Nashville Film Festival

Dr. Sarah Childress - Director of Strategy & Operations, Nashville PBS

Gisela Moore - Project Manager, Tennessee Entertainment Commission
