The (Re)Launch of "Scottish Banking: A History, 1695–1973"
https://books.steakhouse.financial
For over a century, Scotland ran a stable banking system without a central bank. Its banks issued their own notes, held their own reserves, and answered to their depositors. Competition kept them disciplined. Much of what made that system work is being rebuilt onchain today.
On the evening of 30 June, Steakhouse Financial marks the republication of Scottish Banking: A History, 1695–1973 with an exclusive gathering in London.
The evening opens with drinks, then two presentations: Sarah Jane Checkland, daughter of the book's author, on the history and the text; Adrian Cachinero Vasiljevic, co-founder of Steakhouse Financial, on what that history means for onchain finance now. A fireside chat follows, before the room returns to drinks for the remainder of the evening.
