AI-Native UK Biotech: Accelerating Scientific Discovery in the Age of AI
AI is changing science faster than our institutions can adapt.
The UK has a chance to be at the forefront of this transformation. A broader taskforce is emerging, focused on building AI-native science infrastructure and coordination across research, startups, institutions, and funding ecosystems — with participants and collaborators spanning Oxford, Imperial, UKDRI, the London Lab Automation community, SoTA, and beyond.
As part of this movement, we are organising one of the first gatherings to consolidate partners and actors in Oxford.
This is not a panel and not a networking night. It is an unconference-style working room for researchers, founders, students, investors, policymakers, and technical builders thinking seriously about how AI will reshape biology and scientific discovery.
Will we still write papers in ten years? Will grant funding survive the next five years? How do we prevent slow collaboration, fragmented data, weak peer review, and outdated infrastructure from bottlenecking discovery?
We’ll explore AI for science, lab automation, protocol capture, data access, shared infrastructure, biotech startups, and how the UK can lead the next wave of deep-tech innovation.
Bring one bottleneck you’ve personally encountered.
Leave with a clearer map of what needs to be built, who might build it, and what happens next.
Space is limited to ensure high-quality, in-depth discussions.
Some food and drinks will be provided.
28 May · Evening The Mulberry Suite · Oxford
Organised in partnership between Unfabricated, SoTA and the Neurogenomics Lab, UK DRI at Imperial College London.

This is the first event of the Future of Bio salons series. Subscribe to our calendar here.
We believe that greater coordination is required between high-agency people that want to accelerate scientific research and deep tech in the UK. These salons are intended to facilitate this.

UNFABRICATED is a Principal-Backed Global Innovation & Investment Allocation Platform, focused on Frontier Technology, Alternative Venture Models, and Emerging Founder Ecosystems.
Operating as a global capital architecture platform and fund-of-funds, investing in elite emerging managers and designing next-generation venture ecosystems. UNFABRICATED aligns government stakeholders, institutional capital, and emerging GPs through intelligence-driven ecosystem design and long-term economic strategy
The Society for Technological Advancement (SoTA) is the cross-disciplinary community for Britain's most promising scientists, engineers and technologists. We identify and accelerate exceptional talent early in their trajectories, and cultivate optimism about technoscientific progress.
The Neurogenomics Lab, led by Nathan Skene at Imperial College London, develops computational and experimental approaches for understanding the cellular basis of brain disease. The lab is interested in how genetics, AI, better data infrastructure and stronger coordination between academic labs, startups and funders can accelerate biological discovery.
