Visualist Night
Let's flip the script on Visual Artists, and as a community put our creative outcomes at the top of the bill.
This is a fun and engaging on-going showcase and event series for all Moving Visual Artist, VJ's, Visual Performers, Designers, as well as Digital Artists across Animation, 3D, AI, Projection Mapping, and Interactive (Touch Designer Etc). as well as Curated Sync Clip Editors to explore collaboration and new formats for visual-first A/V nights.
Please attend if you are interested in actively helping produce future events and pioneer new show formats here at tiat and in the general Bay Area with a Visual First approach.
Remote participants are also welcome! We'll have a collaborative Zoom and will provide opportunities for remote attendees to contribute and present.
The nights programming will fall into 4 categories:
1) Two 15 minute artist's spotlights with Q&A
2) One 15+ minute hands on live demo on a narrow but particular use case from one of the showcased artist's practice i.e. OSC/MIDI mapping to touch pad for Resolume, After Effects animation layers/setup, audio reactive setup from touch designer to ableton etc., Gen, Notch, Isadora, Madmapper, and other tools.
3) Open Discussion of the future of both this ongoing program, and visual creation in general.
4) Projector and NDI Jamming: Where we collectively R&D a new visual jazzlike collaborative "battle" format. We will discover the most fun and engaging ways in which multiple artists can co-create and take turns live by seeing each other's compositions as sources or overlay destinations. We see this as both a mixture of jamming, battling, and collabing across a diversity of styles and genres of music and visual aesthetics. Zoom and remote NDI participants are welcome (we have gig fiber).
The goal of this group is to find a broadly inclusive, fun and artistically ground breaking A/V format for 100-200 person shows in the near future where we can showcase a diversity of styles while maintaining a curated trajectory to a show that is thematically, sonically and visually coherent.
all proceeds will go to supplied cold drinks/snacks and raising money for tiat.place's long term sustainability in downtown SF.
Contribute more if you are able to. This gallery and event space for the intersection of art and technology (tiat) is really special but needs your support to thrive!
