Warp & Weft: Not Our Oceans!
Warp & Weft is a beginner weaving workshop. Event description here. Price includes one follow-up Open Hour Day pass within 7 days of the workshop to complete your pieces. Loom must remain at Drawing Room.
IIn this edition of Warp & Weft, we're incorporating recycled plastic in our weavings, instead of our oceans!
Make a wall hanging that weaves together your memories by using old unwanted garments! We’ll begin by learning how texture and color uniquely work when weaving by looking at example weavings to learn what’s possible. We’ll then get acquainted with the looms while setting them up for your wall hanging. From there, we’ll take recycled plastic that you’ve brought in, each with a different colors and/or textures, and cut them up, transforming them into “yarn”. We’ll then guide you through weaving techniques to recycle your old garments into a beautiful wall hanging with a story.
Weaving is a repetitive process that allows for reflection. Arrive at this workshop with a couple unwanted garments and share the memories connected to them amongst friends.
