Distributed Home Batteries — No Electrician Required
Home battery storage has largely remained inaccessible to the mass market. Traditional systems require panel upgrades, electrical permits, and professional installation—putting them out of reach for renters and cost-prohibitive for most homeowners.
Pila Energy is taking a fundamentally different approach. Their plug-and-power™ battery connects to a standard 120-volt outlet, requires no rewiring, and can be deployed by anyone in minutes. Users start with a single unit and expand room by room, with each battery joining what Pila calls their Battery Mesh Network™, a coordination layer that allows distributed units throughout a home to function as a unified system .
Their software optimizes charging based on time-of-use rates, integrates with rooftop solar, and provides intelligent load management across connected devices. The longer-term vision is even more ambitious: aggregating these distributed assets into a decentralized grid resource that can provide resilience and flexibility at scale.
