About Event

This talk will provide an introduction to Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) frameworks, tracing their development from the Convention on Biological Diversity to the Nagoya Protocol and related international agreements. It will explore how these frameworks apply to the use of genetic resources in research and innovation, and how they are evolving in response to advances in synthetic biology and the growing use of Digital Sequence Information (DSI).

The session will highlight key challenges and opportunities for ensuring fair and equitable benefit-sharing in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
