This Earth Day 2026, let's get together and peer over the horizon. What's forming there, what can we picture, how can our acts of imagination now, from here, change our prospects? After all, we can only create what we can first imagine, so first we need to do the imagining.
This much is known: we're never just thinking brains, we're whole embodied selves, and using the Street Wisdom technique we will awaken our innate navigation skills and get up, get out and get wandering, to physically exercise our imaginations. We'll explore some new ideas along the way, including what Rob Hopkins calls "sensory futurism", a kind of future time travel driven by our longing and embodied senses.
At a time of crisis in imagination, we will come together and reimagine again, as a community, with hope and unity our antidote to all that wants to discourage the emergence of the new. The question becomes: this Earth Day, what will the earth thank you for imagining?
The format for this workshop
After an introduction, we will encourage participants to go outdoors to wander for about one hour. After the wander, we'll share what we learn and experience. Join us on Zoom from indoors or outdoors. You can start indoors before heading out, or remain indoors or outdoors throughout. Work out the best way for you to connect to the Zoom to maximise your experience. Make sure all your devices are fully charged up!
About David Pearl
Founder of non-profit Street Wisdom, David Pearl provides creative counsel to the leaders of some of the world’s most significant businesses and public institutions. His arts-bred background includes script writing with Stanley Kubrick and as a TV present on BBC’s music show, The Score. He is also the author of three books including the bestselling narrative handbook, Story for Leaders.
How long is it?
This special Story Walkshop lasts 2 hours. The session is conducted online. Participants can join from indoors or outdoors, or a mixture of both.
How much does it cost?
This special one-off Walkshop is free to Street Wisdom and World Wide Wander volunteer hosts who have delivered a Walkshop in 2025 or who have a Walkshop programmed for the future. Hosts will receive a code to get their ticket for free (contact us if you have not received this). For everyone else, the Walkshop is £25 (non-refundable).
Will it be recorded?
Yes! People who sign up will be able to access a recording of the session for one week after the event.
