​…but not in the way you might think!

​You're invited to join Atelier Aloera, Seniors for Climate, and Suzuki Elders in this intergenerational paper quilt-weaving workshop (weaving, hence looming…) where our climate perspectives are joined together in unified hope.

​Hosted by Wild Bird Trust BC, we will start with science-based communication about protection and restoration initiatives our team is working on, then open up the floor to imagining futures that could come from collective efforts through scrapbooking. The final product will be a co-created “quillt”, a piece of artwork with embedded climate intentions and curiosities.

​Be part of this meaningful intergenerational dialogue! Admission is free and we encourage you to bring friends from all walks of life! Coffee, tea, hot water, and some light snacks and fruit will be provided.

​A Translink Bus stop is located on Dollarton Hwy just past the entrance to the site. Visit the Translink webpage for transit schedules.

• ​From the east: From Phibbs Exchange near the intersection of Dollarton Highway and the Trans Canada Highway, take 212 Deep Cove bus (Bay 8) or 215 Indian River (Bay 6) to EASTBOUND DOLLARTON HWY AT 2600 BLOCK stop.

• ​From the west: get off the bus at WESTBOUND DOLLARTON HWY AT 2500 BLOCK stop.

​Vehicle parking is free. As there is limited parking for the daily visitors to Maplewood Flats, it is preferred to park in the lot located on the south side of Dollarton Highway, just west of the entrance to Wild Bird Trust. The parking area in front of the Pacific Environmental and Climate Change Centre is restricted their staff. If you park there during restricted hours, your vehicle may be towed.

​Accessibility

​Washrooms are available at the Nature House during the event hours. Please note that there is no handrail in the washroom.

​The Nature House is wheelchair accesibile and there are ramps located at the entrance, with a minor lip on the deck.

​For public transit users leaving the event, you will need to cross to the otherside of Dollarton Hwy. There is no pedestrian cross walk. If this is a safety concern, please reach out to info@aloeraccs.ca, so we can accomodate in a timely manner.
