Zines for the Planet!
This event aligns with the CAW 2026 theme of Nature and Biodiversity and explores the importance of systems thinking.
Join us for a hands-on creative workshop where you’ll explore the triple planetary crisis and collaborate on making a zine that inspires action for sustainability.
The event is structured as follows:
We will begin with a short introduction into the power of Zines with examples to look through as inspiration.
We will then provide a brief overview of the Triple Planetary Crisis - Pollution, Climate Change and Biodiversity loss. These topics cut across a number of themes as part of Climate Action Week and invite students and members of the public to think critically about the interconnections of socio-ecological challenges and possible solutions for these issues.
Following these introductions, the majority of the workshop will be spent creating zine pages to be compiled in a collective zine (one for each of the crisis themes) with support from academic facilitators and local artists. These will be shared with the public and as ongoing material to promote learning about sustainability.
To conclude the workshop, we will have a final show and tell and Q&A with our academic facilitators.
Some basic materials will be supplied and we encourage you to bring your own:
· Scissors
· Glue stick
· Materials for picture/collage making
· Markers/coloured pencils
The event will be held in at UTS Campus in building 6 - CB06.07.51 design studio. The event will be facilitated by Dr. Milena Bojovic and Dr. Anja Bless who are both Lecturers in the Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment in the Faculty of Design and Society.
