About Event

“Better Than They Found It” is a documentary clips and conversation event hosted by Stanford University’s Sports Equity Lab to celebrate the legacy of coaches who shaped Stanford and the NFL. The experience, driven by data, pairs powerful storytelling with a dynamic panel of distinguished speakers.

Super Bowl LIX Champion Thomas Booker ('22) will moderate a panel featuring Tavita Pritchard, Willie Shaw, Tarana Harris-Mayes, Tyrone Willingham, and Pam Baker. They will offer unique perspectives on the themes of the film, weigh in on current topics in the coaching industry, and inspire Stanford student-athletes with insights they can use as Cardinal champions and in life beyond our campus.

The film is directed by Stanford alumna Tarana Harris Mayes, daughter of NFL running back coach Chick Harris, and features NFL legends Tony Dungy, Herman Edwards, Bruce Arians and Stanford football greats Willie and David Shaw, among many more.

Light refreshments will be served (while supplies last). Doors will open at 3:45 pm. To our attendees, please note: no photos or recordings of the documentary film clips on the screen.

Join us at Paul Brest Hall at the Munger Graduate Residence, Building 4, at 555 Salvatierra Walk, Stanford, CA 94305.

This event is presented with generous support from Stanford Arts and Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE) Student Housing Operations & Stanford Conferences.
