About Event

Join us for an inside look at how early-stage clean energy deals actually come together, from the very first conversation to the moment the deal closes. This virtual panel brings together a founder, an equity investor, and a lender, each sharing their perspective on what it takes to source, structure, and negotiate financing in the clean tech and energy space.

Through the discussion, you’ll hear how a real deal originated, how the capital stack of equity and debt was designed, and what key diligence and risk considerations guided every decision. Our panelists will explore what each party looks for before committing capital, share lessons learned from past deals, highlight common founder missteps, and offer insights on managing investor relationships.

If you’re a founder preparing to raise capital—whether now or in the future—this session will give you a clear, practical view of the process and the tools you need to navigate it successfully.

This session will be moderated by Gillian Francis, Managing & Funding Partner at Rapid Ventures.

Speakers include:

Stwart Peña Feliz is the CEO and Co-Founder of MacroCycle Technologies. He is a former ExxonMobil process engineer, and holds an MBA from MIT Sloan Business School. His background ranges from manufacturing, designing, and operating large-scale units, including plastic pyrolysis operations from his time at ExxonMobil, to business development, fundraising and partnership development. He has scaled up technologies from the bench scale and held leadership positions at a previous climate tech startup. Now, Stwart is leveraging that expertise to scale up MacroCycle's technology to global scale, and enable mass adaptation of high-quality recycled material with a lower cost solution.

Maggie Wong, Senior Vice President at Silicon Valley Bank, partners with deep tech companies across the New York and tri-state region on banking and lending strategies.  She has over 15 years of global experience in capital markets and product management. As an active connector curating insights for the clean tech ecosystem, she hosts a product podcast and is advisory board member at Scale For ClimateTech.

Clean Energy Venture (invited, lender perspective)
