🌐 Redesign It, Waste Free. A Cradle to Cradle Workshop
Joshua Pasos has climbed under nuclear reactors, trained as an architect, and now builds software that tracks green building certifications. After reviewing thousands of LEED submittals, he's seen which sustainable ideas make it into real buildings — and which never leave the brochure.
In this talk, he revisits architect William McDonough and chemist Michael Braungart, whose book Cradle to Cradle asked a radical question: what if waste didn't exist? What if every product were designed to become food — for soil or for industry?
We'll look at what happened next: a carpet tile that turns back into carpet, a sneaker that became compost, how Cradle to Cradle Certified works, and where certifications stand today.
Then we look forward. At ecoREAL, we use eco-charrettes to generate innovative, low-cost ideas early in a project. You'll team up to redesign something everyday using Cradle to Cradle principles — and find out where the real bottleneck is.
You'll leave with:
The Cradle to Cradle framework in 10 minutes
How C2C Certified, LCAs and "cradle-to-grave" claims differ
Real case studies: Climatex, Shaw, PUMA, Living machine
A hands-on eco-charrette method to take back to your team
Who it's for: founders, designers, architects, sustainability and ESG professionals — anyone who makes, specifies, or buys things.
