About Event

As hiring becomes faster and more relationship-driven particularly in startups, interpersonal communication has emerged as one of the strongest predictors of hiring success. According to LinkedIn’s Global Talent Trends and the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs reports, employers consistently rank skills such as communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability above purely technical or academic qualifications. This is especially true in early-stage climate and impact startups, where teams are small, roles are fluid, and work often involves collaboration across disciplines, communities, and uncertainty.

In the climate and impact space, strong resumes alone are not enough. Interviews and informal conversations are where candidates demonstrate qualities that cannot be quantified: curiosity, humility, clarity of thought, empathy, ownership, and the ability to work with others under pressure. These attributes are critical in climate work, which frequently involves engagement with vulnerable communities, navigating trade-offs, and responding to complex social and environmental challenges.

This 90-minute in-person workshop, held during Delhi Climate Action Week, focuses on helping early-career professionals communicate their value effectively during in-person interviews and networking conversations with climate and impact startups.

The session will cover:

  • How startup interviews differ from formal corporate interviews

  • How to communicate beyond the resume without repeating it

  • What climate and impact startups look for in candidates beyond credentials

  • How qualities like problem-solving, initiative, teamwork, and learning mindset show up in conversation

  • Navigating common interview roadblocks such as role clarity, salary discussions, and vague job descriptions

  • Identifying early red flags in startup language and culture

Through short simulations inspired by speed-networking formats, participants will practice articulating their motivations, experiences, and strengths in a way that feels natural, grounded, and human, rather than scripted or jargon-heavy. Peer feedback will help participants reflect on clarity, confidence, listening skills, and presence.

This workshop supports participants in entering climate hiring spaces with greater confidence and self-awareness, equipped not just to be selected, but to select roles and teams that align with both their values and professional growth.
