The Future of Software: Engineering in the Age of AI

​Software development is evolving fast. As AI systems take on more of the implementation work, the role of engineers is shifting from writing code line-by-line to guiding, verifying, and shaping AI-generated code.

​In this talk, Advait Maybhate (Engineer, Warp) will explore what this shift means for engineering teams:

• ​What does the next evolution of AI dev tools look like? How did we get here?

• ​Where humans still need to be in the loop (core infrastructure, tech debt, long-term maintainability)

• ​Practical techniques for agentic development - prompt planning, testing for verifiability, and focusing AI on low-risk leaf nodes

• ​How engineers can thrive in this new era as architects, reviewers, and product managers for machines that code

​It’s a new era of software development: humans and AI working together, with engineers at the helm.
