Business & Nature Solutions: Data Driven Conservation: Saving Species with Maps & Technology
Monkey Rock: A Species Corner for Nature at Climate Hub Davos is a temporary public art installation presented during World Economic Forum week in Davos.
============================================
This session brings together Tasso Azevedo, Social Environment Entrepreneur and Founder and General Coordinator of the MapBiomas, and Seth Cochran, "The Fistula Guy", Founder and CEO Operation Fistula and Impact Intel, to explore how data, maps, and technology are reshaping species conservation in the implementation era of the climate and nature transition. The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Marcos Oliveira Jr, Research Impact Fellow at the University of Exeter’s Nature and Climate Impact Team, bringing an AI, data-science, and impact-oriented perspective to the discussion.
Drawing on large-scale environmental monitoring and impact-driven innovation, the discussion will examine how data, maps, techonology and collaborative science can help to track land-use change, expose deforestation, and support biodiversity conservation across the Amazon and beyond. The session will also highlight how technology platforms can mobilize capital, build communities of practice, and translate complex environmental and social data into real-world outcomes for people and nature.
