🌐 AI Cluster: Space Data Centers
Welcome to the AI x Climate Cluster meetup!
In our last AI x Climate Cluster, we learned that if AI becomes more energy efficient, it will only increase its usage (and thereby its environmental impact). How can AI grow while limiting environmental impact?
Rob DeMillo (CEO Sophia Space) joins us to share how space data centers can help.
This meetup is hosted by Guthrie Gintzler.

About Rob & Sophia Space:
Rob DeMillo is CEO and Co-founder of Sophia Space, a Pasadena-based company building modular, solar-powered orbital data centers using a constellation of autonomous compute "Tiles" in low Earth orbit — harvesting solar power for on-orbit AI processing while radiating waste heat directly into space. A serial entrepreneur since the 1990s, DeMillo previously served as the first-ever CTO of architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and earlier spent time as a research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
