From leadership to stewardship
Commons Hub #systemslab
In a time when organisations face complex challenges and growing expectations, the traditional idea of leadership — centred on vision, authority, and decision-making — is being called into question. What if, instead of leading from the front, we learned to steward what we are asked to care for?
Stewardship invites us to see organisations not as tools to achieve personal or collective goals, but as living systems we care for. A steward acts with humility and awareness, recognising that their role is temporary and their responsibility is to sustain, nurture, and pass on something greater than themselves.
This shift — from leadership to stewardship — transforms our relationship to organisations. Instead of asking “Who is in charge?” we begin to ask “What is ours to care for?” Responsibility becomes shared, not delegated. Ownership becomes a feeling of belonging and co-responsibility, rather than control.
In this webinar, we will explore together:
How stewardship differs from leadership — in mindset, practice, and culture.
What changes when we view organisations as ecosystems to be tended rather than machines to be driven.
How this shift can deepen our sense of ownership, accountability, and meaning at work.
Join us for this webinar about how moving from leading to stewarding can open new ways of being in relationship — with ourselves, our organisations, our colleagues, and the world we serve.
