CleanAI in Canada: Ecosystem Launch
CleanAI Initiative and Lawson Climate Institute at the University of Toronto are pleased to invite you to the launch of Canada's cleanAI ecosystem.
Canada stands at a pivotal moment. Over $100 billion has flowed into the global cleanAI market since 2020 — representing 11% of all venture capital (VC) invested in AI — and the opportunity at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the physical economy has never been more consequential. In Canada, 25% of all AI ventures are cleanAI ventures. The question for Canada is not whether to participate, but how to lead.
This invite-only event marks the launch of the Canadian cleanAI ecosystem, stemming from a landmark report offering the most comprehensive assessment to date of Canadian innovation in artificial intelligence applied to the clean economy transition — and where Canada stands within the broader global landscape.
At a moment of heightened concern around AI bubbles and overcapitalization, cleanAI solutions offer a counternarrative: AI not as an end in itself, but as an enabler and accelerant within deeply constrained physical systems. While capital continues to chase ever-larger generalist models, a distinct opportunity set is emerging in applied, sector-specific use cases across energy, food, water, cities, and infrastructure.
We will curate and bring together the investors, startups, corporates, and innovation leaders identified from the report for candid, decision-relevant dialogue on how Canada positions itself as a cleanAI leader on the global stage. Closed-door, peer-level exchange. Followed by networking.
