(K-GX International Week) K-GX and Green Steel Transition: Creating Markets through the Automotive Sector
This event aims to discuss policy directions to accelerate South Korea's transition to green steel within the framework of the K-Green Transformation (K-GX) strategy and against the backdrop of several global developments, including the introduction and expansion of the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (EU CBAM), growing procurement requirements for green steel as part of corporate supply-chain decarbonization strategies, and expanding climate disclosure requirements.
In particular, the discussion will explore policy approaches to create an early market for green steel by engaging major steel-consuming industries, including the automotive sector. It will also examine ways to address potential market challenges, such as the green premium, while considering how the K-GX strategy can effectively link technological transition with demand creation.
