About Event

The World Cup is coming to Vancouver!!
Vancouver Made asks one question:

If Vancouver had its own kit, what would it look like, and how would you build it?

Vancouver Made is a one-day designathon and build jam at BCIT Tech Collider. One brief, two ways in:

Design it. You are a designer, illustrator, fashion or product person. You care how it looks, feels, and tells a story.

Build it. You are an AI builder, hacker, or engineer. You care how it gets made: the pipeline, the tools, the workflow no one else in the room would have used.

Same challenge. Same room. You can do one side or both, solo or on a team you form on the day.

The brief
Spend the day creating a jersey and sneaker concept that tells the Vancouver story: its heritage, neighbourhoods, mountains, ocean, culture. The winning designs do not just get applause. They get manufactured, for real, and given to the winners.

WHAT WE ARE ACTUALLY JUDGING
Novelty of process and output, not just craft or finish.

The final jersey and sneaker matter. The system behind them matters just as much. What did you try? What did you build around your process? What became possible because of the tools, code, and experiments you used?

A strong project feels new in one of two ways: the output is novel, or the process opens a new way of making. Designers win by making something no one expected. Builders win by making something no one else could have produced, by wiring up AI, code, automation, research, and material references into a workflow that changes what is possible.

WHO SHOULD COME

Designers, fashion and footwear creatives, type cutters, illustrators. And AI builders, hackers, software engineers, automation tinkerers, students who would rather ship a pipeline than open Figma. If you have a perspective on Vancouver and want to spend a day building something genuinely new, this is for you.

You do not need to know how to design. You do not need to know how to code. You need to come in curious.

Spots are limited. Register above. Questions or want to sponsor? DM us.
