"Plug-in" to the Future of Clean Energy --> Building a plug-in solar movement!

Imagine going down to your local hardware store and buying a simple appliance that when you plug it in to an outlet, it immediately lowers your utility bill. Now imagine that device is run on clean, non-polluting solar energy.

​Well, that’s the idea behind Plug-In PV, or Balcony Solar. It is taking off in Europe and we want to bring it to California. Whether you live in a high-rise, an apartment, own your home, or are a renter, we want you to plug into the sun!

Join Bright Saver and our key coalition partners at our Oakland warehouse for a hands-on workshop during SF Climate Week 2026. We are celebrating an exciting new frontier of the solar movement: Plug-in, or "balcony" solar. It is portable, and simple to use -- panels on a balcony, terrace, or backyard plug into a standard outlet to offset grid use. A single kit in California can save a family hundreds of dollars per year.

​This event is about expanding awareness on this emerging, exciting technology, particularly as state legislation is being considered to make accessing these systems easier and more affordable for all Californians.

• ​Live System Demo: Get up close with the technology. See how these systems can be plugged into an outlet and automatically begin generating clean power for your home.

• ​Policy Updates: Hear from Bright Saver and our on-the-ground state coalition partners on the status of California plug-in solar legislation. Learn how we are leveraging state policy reform to make getting these systems easier, quicker, and more affordable.

• ​Interactive Learning: Engage with educational trivia games designed to help you understand the transformative potential of making solar accessible to every household.
