About Event

There are 1.5 billion vehicles on the road. Most of them predominantly burn fossil fuels, and so do most of the ones we're still building.

In this inaugural ClEd Talk, Tom Gurski, Founder and CEO of Blue Dot Motorworks, will explore the implications of this fleet "inertia" on achieving our climate goal and why conventional strategies won't fix the problem. We'll examine several alternative approaches, including electrifying existing vehicles via retrofits.

5:00-5:30: Networking
5:30-6:15: ClEd Talk and Q&A
6:15-7:00: Happy Hour

Tom earned a degree in mechanical engineering from MIT and set about a career turning new science and technology into impactful products. He developed Stirling engine generators for the alternative energy sector, medical devices for the detection and treatment of diseases, and mobile latrine processing systems to improve sanitation for some of the world’s most impoverished. He founded Carbyne Enterprises, an engineering and product development consultancy. His latest venture, Blue Dot Motorworks, seeks to accelerate the decarbonization of road transportation by electrifying the 1.5 billion cars already on the road, while delivering an unprecedented return on investment.
