Workshop 2: How 3D Design Is Used in the Real World - From AI and Engines to Fabrication and VFX (2026)

  • Number of Sessions: 2

  • Duration per Session: 2 hours 15 minutes

Description

This workshop explores how 3D Design is actually used in the real world today, across games, film, immersive experiences, product design, and physical making. Participants will see how 3D Design connects digital creativity with fabrication, prototyping, VFX, engines, and emerging AI tools.

Rather than focusing on technical depth, the session highlights real workflows, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Participants will follow examples of how a single 3D Design idea can become a digital experience, a screen-based output, or a physical prototype, and how AI is increasingly used as a creative support tool rather than a replacement for human ideas.

Requirements for Attendees

  • Notebook or sketchbook for observations and workflow mapping

  • A storage device or a Google account to copy work and access resources

  • Computers will be provided; participants may bring their own device if they wish

  • Internet access for demonstrations and cloud-based tools

Optional Resources

  • Headphones for video or engine demonstrations

  • General interest in games, film, or digital media

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand how modern 3D Design workflows operate across digital and physical outputs

  • Learn how AI supports creativity and productivity in 3D Design

  • Gain insight into collaborative and cross-disciplinary creative pipelines

  • Recognise how 3D Design assets evolve from ideas into real-world results
