Frontier Builders
Level up your AI native skills
Scout and Obvious are teaming up for a one-day build for Founding Product Managers, Forward Deployed Engineers, and early-stage Software Engineers. You'll get hands-on practice with the tools and workflows actually being used at the edge.
The day moves through three stages. First, you level set, taking a short assessment to baseline where your AI native skills are today. Then you close the gap, starting the morning with a talk on what's possible at each level, then spending the rest of the day in guided workshops building alongside peers. Finally, you connect, winding down together and turning a day of work into ongoing relationships.
By the end of the day, you'll be assigning your agents features to build instead of prompts.
Note: This event is entirely free, including unlimited tokens for the hackathon. Building and tokens will require an obvious.ai account.
Come alone or bring a team. This day is built for:
Founding Product Managers
Software Engineers
Forward Deployed Engineers
Who's leading it
The sessions are led by the research team at Obvious, an applied AI research lab that has spent the past year running its own company as the experiment. The pre-event assessment was built by the Scout team, drawn from conversations with thousands of founding PMs and engineers about what's actually changing in the job.
What to bring
Your laptop
Access to a real GitHub repo you care about, or a clear vision for a greenfield project
A bug backlog or a list of small improvements
An Obvious workspace (sign up and onboarding steps shared in advance)
Meals and snacks provided. 🍕🍻
Run of show
Before the event: Level set
A short five-minute assessment to baseline where your AI native skills stand today. It shapes what you work on during the day.
Morning: See the gap
A walkthrough of what each level looks like in practice. You'll see where you landed, what the levels above you look like in real work, and what it takes to get there.
Mid-morning through afternoon: Close the gap
Guided hack day working shoulder to shoulder with peers to test new workflows, approaches, and tools. We'll help you scope a project that fits where you're starting from, so you spend the day building something real rather than running a toy exercise.
Topics you might see covered:
Design the complete hands-off build loop, with the coding agent of your choice
Manage a multi PR autonomous agent swarm
Prepare more ambitious builds, entire features or even products
Manage QA, code review, and human feedback without slowing the work down
Decide where to spend your time and where to go hands-off
Rethink devops and organizational roles in a world of autonomy
Scale autonomous software delivery safely
Rethink roadmap and scoping when you can build anything practical in a day
Turn a backlog, bug list, or feature idea into agent-ready specs
Evening: Connect
Time to reflect on what you built and turn the day's connections into ongoing ones. We'll close with a happy hour and smaller group dinners.
