We believe the next great global cleantech company can be built in Rio.
And on September 25, we want you in the room when we start building it.
COPPE/UFRJ, Latin America’s largest engineering research center and home to one of Brazil’s most established tech incubators, and Made in Rio, Rio’s largest AI ecosystem and the team behind AI Salon Rio, are joining forces around one big ambition: to turn Rio into the AI capital of Latin America.
Silicon Valley was built on a culture of hacking. We're bringing that hacker mindset to Rio.
From a pool of around 1,000 applicants, only 60 will make it into the room for the final 3-day AI Hackathon COPPE/UFRJ × Made in Rio.
On Opening Day, the 60 hackers will be joined by a carefully selected group of leaders from across Rio’s AI ecosystem.

Applications are open through September 4, and we're looking for three kinds of applicants.
Builders. Devs, energy specialists, scrum masters, project managers.
Teams who hack for sport. The hackathon circuit regulars.
Startups. Already building in energy, climate, or AI? Put what you’ve built against three real-world problems.
