Human Enhancement Hackathon - Phase 1
🚀 Human Enhancement Hackathon: Build the Future of Augmented Humanity
Prototype → Lab → Demo Day | February 21st–March 2nd
Join a beginner-friendly, high-ambition hackathon exploring the future of human enhancement. From AI-native applications to biohacking tools, wearables, and experimental lab concepts.
This is not just a weekend sprint. It’s a two-phase build experience where selected teams move from prototypes to real-world experimentation using Biopunk Lab facilities and workspace.
Curiosity > credentials. If you’re open-minded and excited to build novel solutions that expand human capabilities, this is for you.
🧠 The Theme: Human Enhancement
All projects must center on augmenting human abilities, such as (but not limited to):
Cognitive enhancement & neurotech-inspired tools
AI-assisted decision-making or learning
Health, longevity, and performance optimization
Human–computer interfaces
Wearables, sensors, or experimental lab-based concepts
Ethical, social, or accessibility-focused enhancement solutions
Solutions can be software, hardware, wet-lab, or hybrid.
🧪 Two-Phase Competition Format
Phase 1: Prototype & Screening (Weekend 1)
📅 February 21–23
Teams build and present an initial prototype or proof of concept
Judges evaluate feasibility, novelty, and alignment with the theme
Top teams are selected to advance
This phase is fast-paced and exploratory, perfect for testing bold ideas.
Phase 2: Lab Development Week
📅 February 24–28
Selected teams receive:
Access to biopunk lab facilities
Dedicated workspace
Time to refine, experiment, and iterate on their solution
This is where your concept idea turns into real experiments, real prototypes, and real validation.
Final Demo Day (Weekend 2)
📅 March 1–2
Teams present their refined solution to a panel of judges
Live demos, technical walkthroughs, and Q&A
Winners announced at the end of the weekend
🏆 Prizes
1 month of access to Frontier Tower for winning teams
Additional prizes, resources, and opportunities to be announced
👥 Team Requirements
Teams of 2–4 people (no solo participants)
Mixed backgrounds encouraged: tech, biology, design, humanities, business, or just curiosity
Beginner-friendly by design (no prior lab or AI experience required)
No previous ideas/projects allowed. You have to build in the moment.
👀 Who Should Attend
This hackathon is for:
Curious beginners exploring AI, biotech, or human-centered tech
Builders who want hands-on lab exposure
Designers and thinkers interested in the future of humanity
Hackers, biohackers, and experimental founders
Anyone excited by the question: “How can humans be enhanced—responsibly?”
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need a background in biology or AI?
A: No. This event is beginner-friendly. Teams benefit from diverse skills, not expertise in everything.
Q: Can my project be software-only?
A: Yes. Projects can be AI-native apps, lab-based experiments, hardware, or hybrids.
Q: Do all teams get lab access?
A: Only teams that pass the Phase 1 screening advance to the lab development week.
Q: What if my idea changes after Phase 1?
A: Iteration is encouraged. As long as your project stays aligned with human enhancement, evolution is expected.
Q: What’s the team size limit?
A: Minimum 2, maximum 4 participants per team.
Q: Is this in-person or remote?
A: The lab phase and final demos are in-person.
Q: What should I bring?
A: A laptop, curiosity, and a willingness to explore unconventional ideas.
This event is hosted at the Frontier Tower:
We are transforming a 16-floor tower in San Francisco into a self-governed vertical village—a hub for frontier technologies and creative arts. Tier-one labs presenting AI, Ethereum, biotech, neuroscience, longevity, robotics, human flourishing, and arts & music. These floors will house innovators and creators pushing the boundaries of human potential in a post-AI-singularity world.
