Carbon Removal Insights: A Conversation with Klaus Lackner
Join us for the third webinar in the OpenAir Collective's 2027 Carbon Removal Challenge webinar series!
Prof. Klaus Lackner is widely considered one of the founding fathers of direct air capture, having pioneered passive moisture-swing DAC. He is a long-time proponent of modular design and approaching greenhouse gas emissions as a waste management problem. His students have gone on to found startups (which he advises), consult at leading management consulting firms, and work for the US Department of Energy. Join us for a wide-ranging discussion of carbon removal issues and opportunities, including measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV), the impact of energy security, and a new "scope 0" approach.
Prof. Klaus Lackner is Emeritus Professor and Founding Director
of the Center for Negative Carbon Emissions at Arizona State University. Prior to joining ASU, he served as the Director of the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy at the Earth Institute and was on the faculty in the Earth and Environmental Engineering department at Columbia University.
