Visitors to the Al Furaa Off-Grid Technology Hub, established by the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, will experience practical solutions operating in site designed to address the water, sanitation, and energy needs of off-grid communities such as the Al Furaa Bedouin community. A key feature of the visit is Laguna Innovation's decentralized wastewater treatment and reuse system, which treats the Al Furaa school's wastewater onsite without connection to centralized sewerage infrastructure. Visitors will see how the compact system integrates biological treatment, renewable solar energy, and remote monitoring to produce high-quality treated effluent suitable for reuse. The installation demonstrates how decentralized, low-energy technologies can reduce reliance on septic tank pumping, improve sanitation and environmental conditions, and create a valuable local water resource for irrigation. The Al Furaa installation provides a real-world demonstration of a scalable approach to water security and climate resilience in underserved communities.
