About Event

Given tech's complex nature, encompassing not only technological but also economic, environmental, and social, a new way of understanding is essential. Systems thinking provides us with tools to make sense of this complexity by viewing technology through the lens of various variables and their interconnected relationships.

In this event, we will explore "wicked problems" – challenges that are inherently difficult to solve due to their evolving nature and history of unsuccessful attempts.

In this workshop we will:

● Unravel the nature of wicked problems (challenges that are inherently difficult to solve due to their evolving nature and history of unsuccessful attempts) in tech: Explore case studies and real-world examples showcasing how data privacy, algorithmic bias, resource depletion, and digital divides exemplify these intractable issues.

● Collaborate to identify and articulate specific wicked problems plaguing the tech landscape, fostering shared understanding and a systems-wide perspective.

● This workshop sets the stage for future events dedicated to individual wicked problems and exploring innovative, systemic solutions within our series on Systems Change for Sustainable Tech.

Who Should Attend:

● Tech professionals (developers, designers, product managers)

● Entrepreneurs & startups seeking sustainable growth strategies

● Policymakers & researchers interested in tech's societal impact

● Students passionate about technology's ethical and environmental dimensions

● Anyone eager to equip themselves with systems thinking for navigating complex challenges.

Opportunity to:

● Engage in discussions, brainstorming, and collective problem-solving.

● Apply tools of systems thinking to real world problems.

● Connect with like-minded individuals invested in responsible tech development.

● Be part of an ongoing exploration towards sustainable solutions through subsequent systems workshops.
