[Webinar] Inspiration Valley - Angelica Iacovelli
For the upcoming webinar organized in collaboration between Silicon Valley Study Tour and Lead The Future Mentorship, Angelica Iacovelli will share her new journey after becoming Founder & CEO @Nucleo (YC F25).
Angelica began her academic journey at Politecnico di Milano, where she earned both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Mathematical Engineering with a specialization in Statistical Learning, graduating with the highest honors.
As part of her Master’s degree, Angelica completed an Erasmus exchange in Madrid, attending the Master’s program in Statistical & Computational Data Processing jointly held by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and later expanded her international experience with an exchange program in Computer Science and Mathematics at IIT Madras.
During her MSc, Angelica was involved in NECSTLab, a laboratory at Politecnico di Milano focused on advanced topics in computing systems.
Her thesis was written during her time at Stanford as a Visiting Researcher, and focused on developing innovative reduced-order models for cardiovascular simulations using Graph Neural Networks and LSTMs, contributing to the advancement of AI applications in healthcare.
This experience was fully funded by the prestigious Zegna Scholarship, awarded on the basis of academic excellence and leadership potential.
During her Master’s, Angelica gained industry experience in data science at QuantumBlack, the AI division of McKinsey, working on geospatial predictive‑maintenance analytics. Earlier, she had also worked as a Junior Account Manager at Human Vs Machine, where she developed data‑driven digital marketing campaigns.
Throughout her journey, Angelica has devoted time and energy to education and mentorship. Since April 2024, she has been a Guest Lecturer at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in the course “Financial Technologies and Sustainability”. She is involved in communities such as Lead the Future and the Stanford Founders network, and has mentored early‑stage founders through initiatives like Startup Africa Roadtrip.
IIn 2025, Angelica co‑founded Nucleo in San Francisco, where she serves as CEO, and was accepted into the Y Combinator F25 batch. Nucleo is building AI to automate critical workflows in oncology, particularly CT‑scan–based metrics such as skeletal muscle mass for sarcopenia detection and tumor lesion measurement, with the aim of transforming cancer treatment through technology.
Over the past months, she has been sharing her entrepreneurial journey and technical insights at conferences, universities, and events in Europe and the United States, inspiring a new generation of innovators in AI and healthcare and advocating for faster clinical adoption of trustworthy AI tools rather than replacing clinicians.
Find out more about Angelica’s journey during the webinar on February 24th.
