Agent Skills for Beginners (with Gumloop)
Most people building with AI agents hit the same wall. The agent can send emails, update your CRM, and search the web. But it doesn't know your process. It doesn't use your templates.
Skills fix that. They're the missing layer between "an AI that can do things" and "an AI that does things your way."
Skills are showing up across every major AI platform right now. Claude has them in Chat, Cowork & Claude Code. ChatGPT just added them. OpenClaw has a full skill marketplace. And Gumloop just shipped them too. The concept is the same everywhere: teach your agent a repeatable process so it stops improvising.
For this session, Aron Korenblit, Head of Community and Education at Gumloop, is joining Jan from 9x. We'll cover the fundamentals of skills, why every platform is betting on them, and build them live in Gumloop so you can see the difference they make in practice.
You'll learn:
• What skills actually are and why they matter more than better prompts
• The key difference between system prompts, tools, and skills
• How skills compound over time as your agent learns from corrections
• How to build your first skill from scratch
• The before-and-after difference when an agent has skills vs. when it doesn't
We'll be using Gumloop for the demos but the concepts you'll learn apply to any platform you end up using.
Who this is for:
Anyone using AI in their day-to-day whether that’s building AI agents, automations or using simple AI chat. No prior experience with skills required. If you've built a basic agent and wondered "how do I make this more reliable?", this session answers that question.
This is a 90-minute session with time for Q&A.
