Systems change in practice
Systems change. Transformative change. Coordinated action. These terms are appearing everywhere in climate conversations – but what do they actually mean in practice?
Limiting global warming demands a fundamental shift in how we organise, govern, invest, innovate, and collaborate. Every part of our society and economy must fundamentally change, and no single organisation or project can do it alone.
Although momentum is growing, many responses remain siloed, and we risk missing the power of joined‑up, system‑wide action.
Bridging the gap between climate ambition and reality means stepping into the “messy middle” – the complex, uncertain, and often uncomfortable space between where we are now and the future we urgently need to create.
This event brings together systems‑change practitioners to explore how we can move beyond isolated efforts and accelerate joined‑up, transformative action. Come for the insights, stay for the conversation.

WHO SHOULD COME
People working in government agencies, philanthropy, finance, civil society, research, or business — as well as students and emerging practitioners — who are exploring or applying systems approaches and want to deepen their practice.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This session explores how systems innovation and systems‑change approaches can help us navigate that complexity. From decarbonisation and the just, orderly and equitable transition away from fossil fuels, to scaling emerging technologies and adapting to a rapidly changing climate, systems approaches offer practical pathways for collective transformation.
This event will involve a panel of practitioners working across government, business, philanthropy, and finance will share real‑world stories, insights, and tools. Together, we'll unpack what systems change looks like, why it matters, and how you can apply these approaches in your own work. You'll also have the chance to workshop your questions and challenges with the panel.
There will be time for networking after the event between 5.30 - 6pm.
