AI Agents SF #9: AI Agents: Past, Present, and Future
Our 9th AI Agent Meetup is sponsored by Neo4j and the AI Alliance.
The SF AI Agent Meetup is a new & growing community for AI Agent Developers, Engineers, UX, Ops, and Applied Researchers exploring and leading the evolution of AI agents. Whether you're building autonomous systems, experimenting with LLM-powered assistants, or integrating AI agents into real-world applications, this meetup is the place to discover, share insights, and collaborate with your peers. Join us for talks, demos, discussions and networking with like-minded innovators shaping the next generation of AI.

Session & Speaker Descriptions
Talk #1: Verifiably Safe Agentic Compute AI-Native Coding
Session Description: TBD
Speaker Bio: Erik Meijer has been deeply involved in the development of Haskell, C#, Visual Basic, Dart, and Hack, and has contributed to the evolution of Java, Scala, Kotlin, and JavaScript. At Microsoft, he worked across language and runtime teams and led early efforts in cloud programmability. He’s the creator of Reactive Extensions (Rx), a composable approach to asynchronous programming now widely adopted across platforms. At Facebook (Meta), he reworked core backend systems to support reactive application development at scale. His current work focuses on making machine learning more accessible to developers—through probabilistic and differentiable programming, and by applying ML to infrastructure and tooling.Talk #2: Tools! - A history of agents doing stuff by Evan Tahler, Arcade.dev
Session Description: How did agents escape from the chat box to having access to 100s MCP servers? What’s coming next? In this talk we will tale a look at how quickly agents have gained access to external systems, best practices for keeping them safe, new patterns that are emerging, and where things are heading next. Risky live demos included!
Speaker Bio: Evan is the Head of Engineering at Arcade.dev - building the platform for secure and scalable agentic tool execution. Prior to Arcade, Evan was the Director of Engineering at Airbyte, where he led the teams that focused on high-volume data movement and AI-pipelines. Before that, Evan was the CTO and co-founder of Grouparoo, the open-source reverse-ETL company, which was acquired by Airbyte.Talk #3:
