About Event

Hey everyone,

This Wednesday 10-1115am PT / 1-215pm ET is our weekly digital get together to connect on how we are all making our way through this new era for creative industries and AI among other emergent technologies, sharing ideas, tips, knowledge amongst ourselves.

Our group is an amazing mix of creators/ producers/ builders/ some new to this stuff/ some OG/ all of us constantly learning.

In this very special episode we will be conducting the debate many in our group chat have wanted for some time between ETC's Yves Bergquist and our Machine Cinema co-founder, Minh Do. If you want to know what mudslinging looks like between two big AI + Media-obsessed brains, this is your ticket.

Yves is an AI researcher and the director of the “AI in Media” Project at ETC. At the Center, Yves and his team use frontier AI methods to help media companies develop deep insights into their content, their audiences, and the cognitive relationship between the two. For the past 3 years, he has been working, often in collaboration with SMPTE, on developing an industry-wide view of ethical standards for the media industry, and has led industry-funded research into moral bounding of conversational agents.

Yves is also the co-founder and CEO of Corto, an AI startup developing AI tools to make stories and audiences computable through the DNA analysis of narratives. Corto is in Private Beta with a dozen studios, advertising agencies, and global consumer brands, and is already used to develop film, TV, and branded content. In addition, he is a member of the Digital Storytelling Lab at Columbia University’s School of the Arts, where he participates in the lab’s work on emerging storytelling platforms and methods.

Minh Do is an entrepreneur, filmmaker, and speaker. He is the co-founder of Machine Cinema and Fantastic Day, where he is cofounder and head of AI, working with musicians, brands, and filmmakers to produce AI content.

Drawing from his diverse background as a former VC, journalist, musician, and teacher. Minh is curious about how AI will transform entertainment and how AI will challenge our understanding of consciousness, and in particular, where does Zen Buddhism and AI intersect. As a journalist, Minh had the privilege of interviewing a wide range of tech leadership, including Anthony Tan, CEO of Grab and Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google.

Minh has worked on a number of creative projects prior to AI, a theater actor in plays like The Little Prince, he played Timon in an audio production of the Lion King, and directing an audio drama of Star Trek – The Next Generation. Minh regularly publishes Youtube videos with his thoughts on the AI field, especially with respect to creativity.
