Hello, and welcome to Atelier!
This is a special introductory session focused on welcoming newcomers to the Atelier family. Inspired by our Summer Showcase and want to try a session out for yourself? Look no further!
We're calling all self-described (and aspiring) artists, engineers, creators, writers, designers, programmers, founders, researchers, & makers of all kinds. Don't let your background define you!
This session welcomes all participants, new and old!
What is Atelier?
Atelier is a place where you have the freedom to explore your curiosity. We gather weekly to create things: software apps, blogs, paintings, videos, music, games, graphics, and so on.

No school work or job work allowed. Please read and adhere to our code of conduct.

Crochet, knitting, and other crafts

Here's what's on the agenda:
1:10 PM beginning ritual — what you're working on & what inspires you
1:30 PM work blocks — 50 min deep work / 10 min break / 50 min deep work
3:20 PM demos & closing — what we made & what we learned
4:15 PM end — part ways, or hang out after :)
Snacks provided. We highly encourage you to bring your own to share! Hosts arrive at 12:30.

Your starting point doesn't matter. The only pre-requisite is the curiosity to show up with an open mind.
To become creative, you need to create. This is the place to start; to be inspired and to regain your childlike pursuit for making things & sharing them.
Who are we?
A friendly bunch of graduates, students, and dropouts who live in Vancouver and meet up every Sunday to work on cool stuff together :)
We are inspired by our friends at Socratica, an organization founded at the University of Waterloo that has expanded to cities across North America ⁂
The first UBC sessions began in January 2023 as "Saturdays@UBC", which later served as inspiration for Atelier beginning in September 2023. Hosts regularly pass the torch to each other, some members come and go, but our energy lives on.
