Allium x SBC Lunch
Hi! I'm the cofounder and CEO of Allium, and also a Stanford CS alumni, I spent all my time at Stanford deep into AI and NLP (when it was just about getting cool).
Thought I'll provide some context ahead of the lunch:
My journey into crypto was different than most. It wasn't through DeFi, it wasn't through Cryptography, and it wasn't through trading (my PnL is not great). It was through the fact that I've been fascinated with data systems and infrastructure and machine learning. I have always been passionate about search engines and information retrieval systems and discovered how the blockchain dataset, though public, was severely underserved from an Infrastructure perspective.
It was very hard to get data out of the blockchain as one would expect of a modern data system as it was optimized for transaction writes (for consensus).
We set out to solve a conceptually very simple problem. How do we make all the data from the blockchain readily accessible for everyone, starting with serious teams in this industry. Everyone was reinventing the wheel themselves, and we knew we could build it once and serve many many companies.
Google did it for public webpages (people don't realize you can theoretically index the whole web yourself if you wanted to, the data is also public! there were also 100s of companies doing this in the past, but only one search engine that people use today.
Bloomberg did this for financial data.
Allium is doing this for all of blockchain data which is both a financial ledger, but also an entire universe of smart contract activity in itself. The universe of what can be built onchain is limitless, and Allium's goal is to make tame that chaotic universe of data in this industry.
We power companies across the crypto natives (Uniswap, Phantom, OpenSea), the institutions (Stripe, Visa, Fidelity), funds, and many more for their data needs.
Excited to go in more detail on Tuesday, cheers
-Ethan
