New Alignments: Climate, Capital, and Common Ground

The forum on New Alignments: Climate, Capital, and Common Ground will bring together leaders from business, academia, policy, and finance to explore how unlikely allies can collaborate to drive climate solutions. Hosted by Princeton’s Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Impact Hub New York Metropolitan Area, this 2-part session features keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking opportunities aimed at uncovering shared interests across sectors and identifying the structural shifts needed to scale climate finance. With an audience of investors, professionals, and students in the climate field, as well as Princeton University's community, the content seeks to spark honest, forward-looking dialogue on how capital can be mobilized for a more sustainable future.

This event is part of Impact State of Mind - Investing in the Green Economy, a full-day conference to catalyze action around the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. View the full calendar here!

Panel Session Details: This forum brings together leaders in sustainable finance and climate policy to discuss how capital can be more effectively mobilized to advance green economy goals across different sectors and stakeholders. Together, our speakers will explore actionable pathways to scale sustainable investing and climate finance that support both economic development and environmental integrity.

Panelists:

  • Karen Florini, Strategic Advisor at C-Change Conversations

  • Patrick D’Addario, President and a founding Director of the Fiorello H. LaGuardia Foundation (LGF)

  • Khalid Mahmood, Partnerships and Development Manager at the British Society of Soil Science

  • Jean Rogers, Co-Founder of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)

Keynote Talk Details: High-integrity international carbon markets have the potential to unlock urgently needed finance to reduce and remove billions of tons of emissions, funding that would not otherwise flow to climate solutions at the necessary scale. By channeling investment into national and global projects, these markets are a vital tool to accelerate the energy transition and deliver meaningful progress toward climate goals. Yet their success depends on more than financial capital: they must be built on integrity, transparency, and trust.

Keynote Speaker: Annette Nazareth is the Chair of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (Integrity Council), an independent governance body that evolved from the Taskforce on Scaling the Voluntary Carbon Market. She is an experienced financial markets regulator, former SEC Commissioner, and a recognized authority on financial regulation and corporate governance.

Networking Lunch: Food, refreshments, and informal conversation among event participants.

Student Organizers: Jessica Guo ’27, Ella Hampson ’26, Sunrit Panda ’25, Alix Nikolić de Jacinto (Georgetown University).
