🌐 Battery & Energy Storage Meetup - Accelerating from Lab to Prototype: Introducing the Electrochemistry Foundry
This Month's Topic: Accelerating from Lab to Prototype: Introducing the Electrochemistry Foundry
For battery and climate tech founders, the "Valley of Death" between the lab and commercial production is brutal, expensive, and slow. While the Bay Area is the global epicenter of electrochemistry innovation, startups are still forging unique pathways to access the pilot-scale infrastructure needed to generate the validation data that investors and customers demand.
This session will introduce the Electrochemistry Foundry (ECF), a nonprofit, open-access battery pilot manufacturing facility launching here in the Bay Area. By providing the shared infrastructure to produce industry-quality pouch and cylindrical cells at a meaningful scale, ECF empowers battery innovators to rapidly iterate, de-risk their technology, and retain 100% of their IP.
Beyond the pilot line, ECF is building a comprehensive support ecosystem. We’ll discuss how ECF is integrating flexible incubation space, advanced metrology, workforce training, and industry partnerships to help companies scale more efficiently with less time and funding. Join us to explore ECF’s technical capabilities, our launch timeline, and how you can leverage this new capability.

About The Speaker:
Dr. Brenna Teigler is the Co-founder and CEO of the Electrochemistry Foundry. She previously spent nearly a decade developing and scaling an entrepreneurial research fellowship model while serving at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), and Activate Global. At Activate, she served as Co-founder and Chief Fellowship Officer, leading program operations and expanding the fellowship nationwide. Earlier, she helped build and operationalize the program as Program Operations Manager for LBNL’s Cyclotron Road and initially helped stand it up as an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science & Technology Policy Fellow at DOE. Teigler holds a PhD in Biophysics from Harvard and a BS in Physics from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
